Kyle McClellan
Head Coach
Kyle McClellan is a former Major League pitcher best known for his time with the St. Louis Cardinals, the organization that drafted him in 2002. Born in Florissant, Missouri and growing up in the St. Louis metro area. The Missouri native rose through the Cardinals’ system transitioning between starting and relief (pitching) roles early in his career. He continued his career with the Texas Rangers in 2013 before retiring from Major League play.Post retirement McClellan is currently focused on philanthropy as the founder and president of Brace for IMPACT 46, a non-profit supporting children and community development in Haiti and St. Louis. He also works as an analyst/host for Cardinals media, including the "Chatter's Box" podcast.
Now, McClellan is turning his attention to a new chapter—coaching the St. Louis Gatekeepers – an exhibition softball team that is coming to St. Louis. Pushing the expansion of pro softball in the midwest. With his daughter developing a passion for the sport, his involvement reflects both a personal investment and a desire to give back to the game at a new level, bringing his big-league experience into a growing space.

Matt Adams
Assistant Coach
A first baseman and power hitter drafted by St. Louis in 2009, Adams developed through the Cardinals system, earning Minor League Player of the Year honors and quickly establishing himself as a key contributor at the big-league level. He began and made his biggest impact with the St. Louis Cardinals, later going on to play for the Atlanta Braves, Washington Nationals, and Colorado Rockies, and the KC Monarch’s earning a World Series championship with Washington.
Today, Adams has brought his love of the game full circle by stepping into coaching, inspired in large part by his daughter’s involvement in softball. Now leading the St. Louis Gatekeepers exhibition softball team, Adams is helping grow the game of softball by applying the professionalism and experience he gained with the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Monarchs—a path inspired by his daughter’s love for the sport and a commitment to elevating it for future players.

Trevor Rosenthal
Assistant Coach
Born in Lee Summit, Missouri. Trevor Rosenthal is a former Major League Baseball pitcher best known for his time with the St. Louis Cardinals, where he established himself as one of the game’s most dominant closers. Debuting in 2012, Rosenthal quickly made an impact and playing a key role in the Cardinals’ postseason runs, including their National League championship that same year. Over his career, he amassed over 100 saves.Following his playing career he is excited to take on a new role as a coach for this St. Louis Gatekeepers exhibition softball team. Rosenthal’s involvement with the team is also deeply personal. As a father, he has found a new appreciation for the game through his daughter, whose enthusiasm for softball inspired him to step into coaching and help support young players in the community.
